UP Govt orders officials to cut expenses

ROLLING out strict austerity measures, the Uttar Pradesh Government has asked its officials to curtail expenses on foreign visits, fly economy class and avoid holding lunch or dinner meetings at five-star hotels. An 18-point order to this effect was issued by UP Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey, a senior official said on Wednesday.


The order directs officials to slash expenses on office stationery, furniture and upholstery. It said just because an official concerned has been replaced, it did not mean there should be new furniture or upholstery for the new official.
The order specifically mentions that official visits should be kept to a minimum unless these are important and essential.


Besides, babus should travel economy class if they have to take flights for official visits. Official lunch and dinner should not be held in five-star hotels. In exceptional cases, permission of the Chief Secretary should be taken.
The five-page order said it was important to cut down administrative expenses to make optimum use of Government  funds and resources for development work.
UP issues 2,721 clearances to investors in six months: The new single wind clearance portal -- Nivesh Mitra, launched during the Uttar Pradesh investors meet in February this year, has so far issued 2,721 clearances to investors, an official said on Tuesday.


Special Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Arun Kumar informed that as an important component of improving ease of doing business in the State, 2,721 clearances have been issued through the portal launched by Prime Minister Modi during the Investors Summit.


‘One road in each UP urban local body to be named after Vajpayee’

UTTAR Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said every urban local body in the State will develop an attractive road, which will be named as the “Atal Gaurav Path” after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.


Along with the beautification of these roads, all necessary and modern facilities should also be provided, he said here on Tuesday, adding that the urban local bodies should also make arrangements for cleaning the drains and keeping them covered. According to the Directorate of Local Bodies, there are 16 municipal corporations, 198 nagar palika parishads and 438 nagar panchayats in the State.


Reviewing various schemes such as “Namami Gange”, “Amrut Yojana” and “Smart City Mission”, Adityanath said people from various parts of the world will be visiting the Kumbh-2019, which will be held in Allahabad from January 15 to March 4 next year.
