Alexis Hospital launches second edition of breast cancer awareness campaign

Alexis Multispeciality Hospital launched second edition of “Pink it Now” here recently. It is an annual breast cancer awareness campaign. Breast cancer is the most common cancer amongst women worldwide and is increasing particularly in developing countries where the majority of cases are diagnosed in late stages according to the World Health Organisation.


‘Pink It Now’ is one of Zulekha Healthcare Group’s CSR initiatives, stressing the importance of cancer prevention, early detection and management of patients with the disease. The ‘Pink It Now’ campaign aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and the benefit of regular check-ups. Alexis Multispeciality Hospital once again had the honour of welcoming Dr Pamela Munster, renowned cancer expert from the University of California in San Francisco, United States as the chief guest and campaign ambassador along with Co-Chairperson Zanubia Shams and other dignitaries.


On the occasion, survivors shared their experiences. Dr Munster led the panel discussion with doctors from the hospital including Dr Amol Dongre, Consultant - Medical Oncology; Dr Arif Khan, Consultant – Medical Oncology; Dr Suraj Agrawal, Consultant – Surgical Oncology; Dr Chandani
Hotwani, Dr Puneet Seth and Dr Shanu Jain, Consultant – Radiation Oncology.


The campaign also hosted the launch of ‘TWISTING FATE’ an inspiring, practical guide to living with BRCA mutations and the genuine healing process authored by Dr Pamela Munster. The book is a practical yet personal guide to the medical and emotional facets of breast cancer.
