S K Dhillon passed away due to cardiac arrest in New Delhi. The last rites will be performed in Bhopal on Thursday


Madhya Pradesh former Director General (DG) of Home Guard and former Punjab DGP S K Dhillon passed away due to cardiac arrest on September 25 in New Delhi. The last rites will be performed in Bhopal on Thursday. “After retirement , Dhillon had settled in Bhopal. He had gone to New Delhi to meet his relative and suffered a massive heart attack there,” informed PHQ sources. Mortal remains of Dhillon will be brought to Bhopal from Delhi. Dhillon’s funeral procession will start from his home in Arera Colony at 10.30 am on Thursday. Last rites will be performed at Subash Nagar crematorium ground. Dhillon was IPS officer of 1953 batch, Madhya Pradesh cadre. He was born in 1929 in Punjab. He remained Punjab DGP from July 1984 till 1985.


In Madhya Pradesh, he had served on various posts, including DGP Home Guard. He also served as DIG Jabalpur and Gwalior range. He remained on the post of AIG SAF.


His tenure in Madhya Pradesh also includes posting as SP in Rewa, Khargone, Bhilai, Sagar, Morena, Damoh, Bhopal districts. He also served as ASP in Chhatarpur and Rewa districts. He retired from service on January 31, 1987. He was a multi-talented person and also served as Vice-Chancellor of Barkatullah University. He also penned down many books. The most famous of them was Identity and Survival Sikh Militancy in India 1978-93.
