CM performs bhoomipujan of Narmada-Kshipra Project

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed bhoomipujan of Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Lift Irrigation Project at Tarana of Ujjain on Wednesday. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2215.64 crore.


A target of 42 months has been set to complete the project. A total of 15 cumec (15 cubic meter per second) Narmada water will be lifted from Omkareshwar reservoir. Water will be made available for irrigation through 5 pumping stations by lifting 497 meter water from first pumping station. Minister for Energy Paras Jain, Chairman of Khadi Gramodyog Board Suresh Arya, MLAs Anil Phirojia, Arun Bhimawat and Shyam Basnal were present on the occasion.


Chouhan said that Narmada water has been brought to improve falling ground water-level of Malwa. Efforts are being made to supply water to agriculture fields of farmers by linking Narmada-Gambhir, Kalisindh and Parvati river under the Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Lift Irrigation Project.


Each individual of State will have annual income of Rs one lakh in future. Moreover, Chouhan stated that efforts will be made to ensure a minimum annual income of Rs one lakh for every poor of the State besides efforts for pucca house, respect towards women, development of villages and to make them self-reliant in future. The State will have 3 express highways. Chouhan informed that electricity bills worth Rs 200 crore have been waived of under Sambal Yojana. The 2.5 crore population of the State is being covered under the scheme. CM Chouhan performed bhoomipujan of 5 high standard bridges costing Rs 52.22 crore, Dogra Gurjar pond worth Rs 4.16 crore, Tarana-Makdon-Dupada Road worth Rs 26.40 crore in Tarana and Ghattiya Assembly Constituency area. Chouhan dedicated Nal-Jal Yojana constructed at a cost of Rs 46 lakh and 48 lakh at Mangliya and Lusudiya village respectively along with the police station building and traffic police station at Ghatiya. He also performed bhoomipujan of 49.55 km long road worth Rs 36.56 crore in Tarana Assembly Constituency area.


Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Micro Irrigation Project: It is to be highlighted that Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Micro Irrigation Project is a significant phase of Narmada-Malwa Link Campaign. Under this, projects have been prepared to lift and supply Narmada water upto basin of Kshipra, Gambhir and Kalisindh rivers. After completion of the project, a total of 30,000 hectare irrigation command area will come up in Ujjain and Shajapur districts. 55 villages of Tarana area and 7 villages of Ghattiya area of Ujjain districts will be benefitted by facility. This will also facilitate potable water to Tarana, Jhangra, Ghattiya and Guradiagurjar villages along with water to industries of Ujjain and Nagda area.
