Senior office-bearers and members of Nagrik Upbhokta Margadarshak Manch (NUMM), on Thursday celebrated World Tourism Day in front of balancing rock and demanded the district administration and concerned authorities to develop the place as tourism spot. Nagrik Upbhokta Margadarshak Manch members said concerned authorities are paying no heed to development of the area.

They said though the district administration and Jabalpur Municipal Corporation have recently razed a number of illegal structures mushrooming in the area, but the authorities still taking no pains to remove debris lying in the area. The JMC is also not widening the approach road to Balancing Rock. Likewise, dump of garbage containing plastic waste are lying everywhere in the area, especially near the rock.
The Manch members have decided to meet Municipal Commissioner, Chandramauli Shukla and apprise him of the situation and also demand him for needed steps for development of the area as tourism spot.

They said after partition of India, village Karondi, situated in Sihora tehsil near Jabalpur has been declared center point of the country. But it is unfortunate that concerned authorities are taking no interest for development of this important place. Tourism Department is also taking no pains to develop the area.

Senior office-bearers of the Manch demanded senior authorities to direct Madhya Pradesh Tourism Corporation for needed steps in their direction. NUMM members said village Karondi was earlier given the name Manohar Gaon in the memory of Socialist Leader, Ram Manohar Lohia. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi had also made a plan of constructing a 100-story building for establishment of Ved University, but the project could not be implemented.
