Staff Reporter,

Raipur,

Junior Doctors (JuDo) at Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (BRAMH) are furious and extremely upset the way the Hospital Administration and Raipur Police is meting out them raw treatment in dealing with the incident of manhandling of an on-duty doctor by an unruly mob led by a rouge youth. The JuDo also charged the police with adopting callous approach despite the fact the victim doctor provided them with picture of his attacker clicked by him soon after the manhandling incident.

Now, the enraged JuDo are staging demo inside the BRAMH campus demanding immediate arrest of the accused based on a First Information Report (FIR) to be filed by Hospital Administration, instead of the victim doctor. However, the reluctance of Hospital Administration to lodge FIR and helplessness of Moudhapara Police, under whose official jurisdiction BRAMH falls, has worsened the situation for patients, who are severely affected by the strike of JuDo.

It may be recalled that Dr Prosenjit Haldar, one of the junior doctors, on-duty at Casualty Trauma Unit inside BRAMH, was allegedly manhandled by a youth, after the latter leading the mob were enraged over the death of a youth, Zuber Changal, brutally stabbed by some youths on Malviya Road, near Baijnathpara, during the immersion procession on Tuesday night. The mob lost their cool and manhandled that doctor Haldar alleging him to have failed in giving emergency attention to a profusely bleeding Changal.

In the meantime, sources in JuDo averred to The Hitavada that they want the Hospital Administration, particularly BRAMH Superintendent Dr Vivek Chaudhary, to lodge the FIR with the local police on behalf of the victim doctor. For the reasons, the victim doctor represented and worked for BRAMH when he was manhandled. Moreover, if he is to lodge a complaint, his services to BRAMH will be severely affected since the police investigation requires frequent presence of the complainant, said a JuDo requesting anonymity.

On the other hand, an official order from the Office of Joint Director and Superintendent, BRAMH, has asked JuDo President to vacate the premises of the referral medical institution and shift their ongoing strike and demo to State Government prescribed Dharna Sthal (Demonstration Venue), situated opposite Budhatalab. The JuDo, which were already feeling insecure due to spurt in the incidents of attack and manhandling on the on-duty doctors of BRAMH, turned more annoyed with this order.
