Chairman of Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation (CFDC) Rajesh Awasthi on Friday said that more theatres should be opened in the state so that regional cinemas could get promotion in Chhattisgarh.

Addressing his maiden press conference at the auditorium of the Culture Department after assuming the charge of the office, CFDC Chairman Awasthi said that there is lack of cinema halls in the state and so it needs to set up cinema halls at block levels in the state. “When there would be cinema halls at block headquarters, viewers from all classes can easily watch movies at their nearest cinema halls,” stated Awasthi.

The CFDC is making its bylaws. As their bylaws are made, a clear policy will be described for screening of regional movies in multiplexes of the state, he said. Director and producer Awasthi said that he would discuss with producers, directors and artists to make strategies for promotion of film, art and culture in the state.

Replying a query how he will manage timing after new responsibility, the actor said that he would promote his upcoming Chhattisgarhi movie ‘Toora Chaiwala’. Chairman Awasthi also expressed his gratitude towards Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and BJP leaders for appointing him as the Chairman of the CFDC.
