Jabalpur’s Lady Elgin Hospital first in MP to achieve ‘Laqshya’

JABALPUR’S Lady Elgin Hospital is the first hospital in Madhya Pradesh to win Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative Certification (Laqshya) in Madhya Pradesh by National Health Systems Resource Centre. Lady Elgin Hospital is the first maternity care hospital to clinch the coveted award.


Apart from this, the Hospital will soon get State certification of National Quality Assurance Certification (NQAC) in September. With this, Lady Elgin hospital leaves behind many maternity hospitals of State and gained the recognition.


Dr Pankaj Shukla, State Nodal Officer, Quality Assurance in National Health Mission and Directorate of Health Service in MP, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’ said, “Lady Elgin Hospital of Jabalpur is the first hospital in Madhya Pradesh to win Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative certification in Madhya Pradesh. He told that Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has initiated Laqshya programme to reduce preventable maternal and newborn mortality, morbidity and stillbirths. These are associated with care of mother while delivering a baby in labour room and operation theaters.


Dr Shukla added that Lady Elgin Hospital has performed extraordinarily well in the competition. The Hospital has undergone great transformation in providing finest maternity care services to mothers and new born babies. He added that he himself has completed inspection process and in September Lady Elgin Hospital will get both the awards.


Dr Shukla said that Lady Elgin Hospital has bagged Laqshya certificate as the hospital is proven to be the best in following set guidelines of Laqshya programme. The programme was initiated to reduce mother and child mortality and Lady Elgin Hospital is surpassing all the other maternity care hospitals in giving finest services to patients.
