Atal Bahadur is city’s first Krida Maharshi

Khasdar Krida Mahotsav’s second edition will be held from January 12 to 27, 2019

THE concluding function of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav was held at Suresh Bhat Sabhagruh, Reshimbagh on Saturday. While the long-awaited concluding function with the felicitation ceremony of city’s twenty legends and a Krida Maharshi (Sardar Atal Bahadur Singh) was done at the hands of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the dates of the second edition of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav were also announced.


The next edition of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav will be organised from January 12 to 27, 2019 at various venues in the city, announced Fadnavis. On the occasion Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor Nandatai Jichkar, MLAs Sudhakar Kohale, Sudhakar Deshmukh, Vikas Kumbhare, Krishna Khopde, Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, MLA Nago Ganar, Principal Secretary Anup Kumar, NMC Standing Committee Chairman Virendra Kukreja, NMC ruling party leader Sandip Joshi were prominently present.


Fadnavis and Gadkari honoured veteran sports organiser Atal Bahadur with Krida Maharshi award. He was presented a cheque of Rs 5 lakh, shawl, shrifal and a memento. Along with him 20 sports legends were also honoured with Krida Bhushan award. They were given cheques of Rs 51,000 each. They include — Vijay Munishwar, Bhau Kane, Salim Baig, CD Deoras, Sitaram Bhotmange, SJ Anthony, Likhiram Malviya, Baba Deshpande, Yeshwant Chintale, TN Sidhra, Arvind Garud, Dr Vijay Datarkar, Sharad Neware, IM Anup Deshmukh, Dr Darshan Dakshindas, Dinesh Chawre, Sunil Hande, Avinash Mopkar, Aniruddha Raich and Suhasini Gade.
Both Gadkari and Fadnavis also announced various schemes and briefed the audiences about the upcoming projects for the development of sports in city.
