SAIL Chairman Chaudhary visits BSP

SAIL Chairman, Anil Kumar Chaudhary arrived in Bhilai on September 29, to visit Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP).
This is Chaudhary’s first visit to any plant of SAIL after taking charge as Chairman. He was accompanied by G Vishwakarma, Director (Projects & Business Planning) and Harinand Rai, Director (Technical). The dignitaries were welcomed at Raipur Airport by CEO of BSP, M Ravi.

Executive Director (Works) P K Dash, Executive Director (F&A) B P Nayak, Director In-charge (M&HS) Dr K N Thakur, Executive Director (Projects) A K Kabisatapathy, General Manager I/c Pers & Admin Anurag Nagar and other senior officers of the Plant welcomed Chairman Chaudhary upon reaching Bhilai Niwas.

Chaudhary interacted with cross-section of employees at Assembly Hall of HR Development Department. Addressing employees for the first time after taking over as Chairman SAIL, Chaudhary spelt out priorities as meeting the Railways’ demand for rails and optimising volume of production to reap benefits of increased profitability and lower costs. He made an impassioned plea for ramping up production from the newly operationalised units under MODEX to enable the company take on the intense competition in the market. Ramping up production from new facilities would lead to significant commercial gains for the company, Chaudhary emphasised.

Chairman SAIL called for greater discipline and improved techno-economic efficiencies which can translate into substantial savings. He complimented the Management and employees of Bhilai Steel Plant for successful hot trials of Bloom Caster-3 of SMS-3 on September 28, 2018 as also for the improvement on the safety front during the year. Stating that the steel industry is passing through a favorable phase presently, he urged the collective to take advantage of the upward trend being currently witnessed.

Chaudhary lauded the Bhilai culture which he said has always inspired him. To SAIL, Bhilai Steel Plant is like the ‘bindi’ on the forehead of a bride, he said referring to a popular song of yester-years. “We will supplement your efforts and help you,” Chairman SAIL said with regard to support of the SAIL management for BSP.

Addressing participants of the interaction, G Vishwakarma, Director (Projects & Business Planning) stressed on quickly operationalising the remaining projects and on ramping up of production from the new units. Harinand Rai, Director (Technical) called for optimising volume of production. At the outset M Ravi, CEO welcomed SAIL Chairman and other dignitaries. Later on, SAIL Chairman and Directors visited Steel Melting Shop-3 and evinced keen interest in working of Bloom Caster-3 and other facilities of the Shop.

Thereafter, the visiting dignitaries held discussions with senior officers of the Plant after a presentation on an overview of Bhilai Steel Plant’s performance at the CEO’s Conference Hall. Speaking on the occasion Chaudhary again
