With every passing day, the death toll due to dengue is rising in Bhilai and the administration seems to be incapable of controlling it. In yet another case, a 13-year-old girl succumbed to dengue on Monday morning during treatment at JLN Hospital, Sector-9 Bhilai. As per reports, about five days ago Isha Nirmalkar (13) a resident of Ward-63 Bhilai had fever and her blood test confirmed that she was dengue positive patient. As such, on August 30, she was admitted at JLN Hospital, Sector-9 Bhilai where during treatment she succumbed on Monday morning.

Dengue for last one month has claimed over 35 lives in Bhilai. This is for the first time in the Bhilai that the death toll due to suspected dengue has crossed above 35. On one hand this clearly indicates the incompetence of administration in controlling the diseases, on the other hand it could be the negligence in treatment, and most important— the lack of awareness in public. Even after dengue spread as an epidemic in Bhilai, the residents are not taking the
issue seriously.

To fight the epidemic, where Social Organisations, Private Doctors and clinics, Anganbadi Workers, SHC group and now school college students have come forward and are visiting door to door to clear the coolers and spread medicines. Pamphlets for making aware people how to protect themselves from dengue are also being distributed among the public.
