The opposition Congress has alleged that the ruling party would misuse government machinery and money in the second phase of Vikas Yatra, beginning from September 5. Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan here on Tuesday, State Congress President Bhupesh Baghel alleged that the assembly election is nearing in the state and the ruling party is taking out the second phase of Vikas Yatra for political gains in the assembly election.

Baghel questioned that how leaders from the ruling party could participate in the government programmes. A case has been already filed with the High Court of Chhattisgarh. In an affidavit, the State Government informed the High Court that non-government persons would not participate in the Vikas Yatra, Baghel cited.

The State Congress President raised question over BJP National President Amit Shah’s participation in the Vikas Yatra. If the leaders from the ruling party will participate in the Vikas Yatra, the Congress will make a written complaint with Chhattisgarh State Election Commission. Moreover, the party will bring the matter into the notice of the High Court, said Baghel. The Vikas Yatra is being taken out in the name of Atal Behari Vajpayee. But the photo of Atal Behari Vajpayee has not been used in the invitation letter of the second phase of the Vikas Yatra. Meanwhile, the photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the mono of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay were used in the letter. The BJP is insulting Atal Behari Vajpayee through this Vikas Yatra, he alleged.

Replying to a query, the State Congress President said that if the Congress comes to power, stern action would be taken against corrupt government officials. CPCC In-charge General Secretary Girish Dewangan, Communication Department Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Rajendra Tiwari, Dhananjay Singh Thakur and other leaders were present at the press conference.
