Various issues discussed during meeting of state-level Monitoring Committee

The meeting of State Level Monitoring Committee, constituted under the provisions of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, was held under the chairmanship of Secretary of Housing and Environment Department Sanjay Shukla at New Circuit House here on Tuesday.

Addressing the meeting, Secretary Shukla asked the government agencies to follow the directives for utilisation of fly ash on priority.


It may be noted that the Government has laid down guidelines for manufacture of bricks and promoting the utilisation of fly ash in the manufacture of building materials and in construction activity within a specified radius. Other various issues were discussed in detail in the meeting. The Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) will take stern action against the companies if they violate these guidelines, Shukla said. In addition, the industries, which are producing fly ash, have been directed to provide fly ash to Mati Kala Board. Other various instructions were given away to the industries.


CECB Additional Secretary Arun Prasad, representatives from CSEBB, SECL, NTPC Seepat, NTPC Korba, National Highway Authority of India, Public Works Department, Agriculture Department, Mining Department, Jindal Power Limited and other companies attended the meeting.
