A villager of Sunderkera, Abhanpur, Lokesh Singh Thakur, who is a farmer, has claimed to have proved that woman Sarpanch, her husband and a few others committed irregularity under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the task of deepening a pond.

Thakur alleged that final order in the matter, which is dated a couple of years back, is being still awaited and on the other hand, he is being boycotted in the village. He convened a press conference at Raipur Press Club on Tuesday. The irregularity committed was including the names of school students and pension holders as workers engaged in the task in order to draw money in their names. A probe has been done in the matter and irregularities were found and four-point recommendations for action have been made. The final order is still awaited and the matter is still pending at the level of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) for the order, alleged Thakur. He named the woman Sarpanch, her husband and the others.

Thakur further alleged that on one hand he is still being summoned to appear in the course of hearings in the matter, and on the other, he is being boycotted in the village due to the pressure of the sarpanch and her husband, who is a Panch. A number of villagers came for his support in the press club.

SDM Harbans Singh Miri perhaps can tell better, said Thakur and the others. On being contacted by this newspaper, the SDM acknowledged the matter and said that the matter is in course of proceedings. The SDM assured that no person can be boycotted and he would look into this aspect.
