The Panchayat Secretary of village panchayat Sakra of Patan development block was nabbed accepting a sum of Rs 5,000 from the appellant Sandeep Thakur

In yet another successful trap carried out by Jabalpur Lokayukta at village panchayat Sakra of Patan development block, a Panchayat Secretary was nabbed accepting a sum of Rs 5,000 from the appellant Sandeep Thakur on Thursday around 12.30 pm. The trap was laid by the Lokayukta team in view of complaint lodged by the appellant against the Panchayat Secretary.


According to information, a team of Jabalpur Lokayukta caught Anand Chaddhar, Panchayat Secretary red-handed accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from the appellant Sandeep Thakur. About the trap conducted, it is informed that the appellant Sandeep Thakur, in his complaint lodged with the Lokayukta, stated that, to obtain financial assistance of Rs 20,000 under National Family Assistance Scheme, the Panchayat Secretary made the appellant to run from pillar to post, citing lame excuses behind the sanction of assistance amount under national scheme. The accused secretary, when asked by the appellant behind the delay in release of financial assistance, told that to obtain the Government assistance, a sum of Rs 5,000 be given to him for the toil he would put on in terms of documentation. The appellant, shocked to learn the greed of the Secretary, finally decided to take up the matter with the Lokayukta. Accordingly, a formal complaint was registered and a trap was laid to apprehend the accused red-handed. On Thursday afternoon, as per plan formulated, the appellant reached at the office of the accused. While the Lokayukta team disguised themselves near the spot. The appellant, being given chemically tested currency notes, stepped in and held talks with the accused. Little later, he offered the currency notes demanded by the accused to get the work done. The team, waiting outside, summarily stepped in and caught the Secretary accepting bribe of Rs 5,000. Charges under corruption act have been framed against the accused. The Lokayukta team comprised DSP Dilip Jharbadey, Oscar Kindo, Kamal Singh, Atul Shrivastava and others.
