Jabalpur is one of the main important districts amongst Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior but it has been overlooked for organising national school sports events

Absence of political willingness towards sports has underprivileged the district from desired sports promotional activities

Organisation of sports events not only increase enthusiasm amongst players but also attract residents for development of a good sporting atmosphere

Jabalpur is leading all the ways in terms of attaining international achievements in the field of sports but it has failed in hosting national competitions of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) due to lakc of political will.

Increasing craze of sports and ongoing sports infrastructural development works needs organisation of maximum number of major sports events. Absence of political willingness towards sports has underprivileged the district from desired sports promotional activities. How disappointing is the fact that divisional headquarters Jabalpur hosts SGFI National Games of different disciplines every year but the district has failed in giving its representation to host National School Games this year.

A senior officer of Divisional School Education Department, wishing not to be named, revealed that the national sports calendar is prepared every year in a formal meeting as the fixture of national competitions is prepared through political influence. School Education Department remained helpless in pressing their demand of hosting national events against political interference. He informed that it is disappointing for the district that no public representative took interest in pressing demand of hosting national events.

Jabalpur is one of the main important districts amongst Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior but it has been overlooked for organising national school sports events. Organisation of popular sports events not only increase enthusiasm amongst players but also attract residents for development of a good sporting atmosphere in the district. Jabalpur has majority of players of Archery, Shooting, Football, Hockey, Cricket, Basketball, Badminton, Swimming, Wrestling, Boxing, Badminton and Martial Arts but none of these events have been organised since long years.

Following the political pressure from other districts, most of the major sports events were allocated to other districts.
