Shooter Shreya bags gold, silver in ISSF World C’ship

Gun for Glory’s shooter Shreya Agrawal bagged a gold and two silver medals in the ongoing 52nd ISSF World Championship- 2018 in Changwan, South Korea, on Friday.

Indian team comprised of Shreya Agrawal, Elvenil Valarivan and Manini Kaushik clinched gold medal and created a new world record in 10-metre Rifle Junior Women’s Competition. Besides, Shreya and Divyansh Panvar won a bronze medal in mixed junior team and another bronze medal in 10-metre Air Rifle Junior Women’s Competition.

Shreya is the first shooter from Jabalpur, who has won medal in World Shooting Championship. World’s top ranked shooters participated in the world championship to qualify for 2020 Olympics.She is being trained since last three years at Gun for Glory Shooting Academy in Jabalpur under the guidance of Coach, Nishant Nathvani. Till now, Shreya has won total nine international medals and selected for Khelo India campaign of the Government of India.

Shreya was selected in Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation’s scheme ‘Project Leap’ and being trained under foreign coach at Chennai Sports Science Centre under the head of Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ). Director of Gun for Glory Prashant Jain informed that Shreya is being given training of Olympic level competition and hoped that she will raise the name of Jabalpur in next Olympics Games.
