Staff Reporter,

Zilla Parishad (ZP) is all set to conduct inspection of its schools in the district and take stock of infrastructure available. For the purpose, a team has been constituted which will also check if school buildings are located below high-tension electricity lines.

Sanjay Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of ZP, has issued a circular in this regard. He has asked a team of Junior Engineer (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan), Education Extension Officer, and Centre In-charge to conduct inspection of physical infrastructure available in ZP schools to ensure safety of students.

The officials will check if classrooms are in good condition, sanctioned strength of teachers, if school buildings are in dilapidated condition and need to be demolished. Also, they will see if ZP schools are having electricity meters. As per the circular, schools concerned will be asked what action have they taken if high-tension electricity lines are passing overhead school buildings.

It is mandatory for the schools to have separate toilets for boys and girls in schools. The inspection team will check if the toilets in ZP schools are separate, in good condition, and if proper hygiene and sanitation are maintained in schools. Whether the students are getting safe and pure drinking water also will be checked. Availability of protection wall to school also is one of the points of inspection. Some schools of ZP are located in areas closer to forests.

In such cases, the officials will verify if there is any risk of wild animals causing any harm to the students in school premises. Already, there are norms regarding maintenance of cleanliness in kitchen shed where meals are cooked for students. Whether the cleanliness is maintained properly will be checked during the inspection drive. Not only this, but also the quality and taste of the food provided to students will be checked during visits to schools.
