CITU to stage nationwide strike on Jan 8, 9

WHILE protesting anti-labour policy of the central government, Hindustan Ispat Theka Shramik Union (CITU) office bearers and members launched a  campaign for ensuring the success of nationwide strike, to be staged on January 8 and 9.

Yogesh Soni, General Secretary, Hindustan Ispat Theka Shramik Union (CITU) informed that on Monday, the trade union office bearers and members launched a campaign in various labour dominated areas in Bhilai for propagating anti-labour policy of the central government and seeking their maximum participation in the nation wide strike scheduled to be held on January 8 and 9. He informed that the trade union was pursuing the various issues concerning to thousands of contract workers, toiling day and night in Bhilai Steel Plant but they are still deprived of even minimum wages payment.

He also informed that as part of the campaign the trade union office bearers and members distributed pamphlets for ensuring participation of maximum contract workers in the nation wide strike. He added that trade union was pressing demands for Rs 18,000 as minimum wages and it would continue to pursue the issue.

The trade union office bearers and members including Zamil Ahmed, Yogesh Soni, Kamlesh Chopara, P K Mukherji, Baijnath, Raju Singh and others joined the campaign taken out by the trade union.
