Goodbye 2018, Welcome 2019

With a graceful note, city said good bye to 2018 and welcomed 2019 on New Year eve on Monday. Party lovers ignored the shivering cold to party with family and friends.

The celebrations started since the morning mainly in schools and colleges. City restaurants, hotels, gift shops, Dhabas and water parks arranged parties for party lovers. New Year wishes echoed from every corner of the city with a fresh mood.

Amid strict police bandobast, the happening places in the city experienced rush of party lovers specially in the evening till the midnight.

Most of the youths preferred to visit Futala lake in the evening to join the crowd for party. The roadside food stalls were busy to serve delicious Chinese dishes, ice-creams etc to the visitors.

Many preferred to go for long drives with friends and spend the evening at happening places like Futala Lake, Ambazari Garden, Poonam Chambers, Dharampeth, Sadar, Medical Square etc.

Amid all the celebrations,  many organisations also opposed the New Year celebrations but failed to fade the party mood in the evening. City Police had made elaborate security arrangements and stepped up vigil across the second Capital to prevent any untoward incident during New Year celebrations. Drive against drunk drivers was undertaken throughout the night in almost every area.

As a positive gesture, Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay and other senior officials offered roses to commuters and wished Happy New Year during bandobast.

Similarly, many social organisations came out with banners to spread awareness about no drink and drive and safe driving on New Year. They also approached youth to obey traffic rules for their own safety.

Restaurants arranged music concerts and DJ shows for their customers on New Year eve and it attracted huge crowd till late night. Many preferred to stay at home with families and spend quality time with them.
