Win trust of people with efficiently working style: Sahu to top cops

“People instead of having a fear psychosis from the ‘Men in khaki’ should respect them. Common people should treat police as their friend not foe,” said Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu on his maiden visit to Police Head Quarters (PHQ) in Atal Nagar (Naya Raipur) on the eve of New Year. 

Making himself heard exceptionally loud clear to the entire rank and file of PHQ present during the visit, Home Minister Sahu underlined Police Department as one of the most important departments of the government and asserted that it plays a pivotal role by not only participating in development activities of the government but also by preventing all those factors and forces that may impede this whole exercise.

Later while interacting with the top brass of the State Police, Home Minister asked them to formulate a work project by the virtue of which the people of state could feel secure, experience simplicity and see police as their friend. Hereafter, senior police officials gave a brief presentation on their units and allotted responsibility. To this, Home Minister assured the officials that he would soon convene separate meeting with all the units of state police.

On the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) R P Mandal assured for prompt redressal of all the proposals sent by police department to the government. He also directed Public Works Department (PWD) and other concerning departments to put forth in coordinated efforts to bring down the spade of road fatalities in state.

Finally, Director General of Police (DGP) Durgesh Madhav Awasthi assured that the entire rank and file of police department would perform duties while living upto the fullest expectations of Chief Minister’s vision while being guided by the Home Minister.

Earlier upon the arrival of Home Minister at PHQ, he was accorded welcome by senior officials. The Home Minister was also presented ‘Guard of Honour.’

Special Director Generals of Police (SDGPs) Sanjay Pillay (Intelligence), Rajinder Kumar Vij (Planning & Provisioning/Technical Services), Additional Director General Ashok Juneja and Raipur Range IGP Dipanshu Kaabra were also present.
