Staff Reporter,

The new state-of-the-art SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Blast Furnace 8 ‘Mahamaya’ with annual production capacity  of 2.8 million tonne achieved its highest daily production of 6,620 tonne of Hot Metal on January 8.  This daily production performance surpasses the previous best daily production of 6,512 tonne achieved on December 25, 2018. This achievement holds special significance in terms of quantum of hat metal handling in Open Top Laddles without Oxygen Enrichment and Pulverised Coal injection.

It is notable that on February 2, 2018, the new Blast Furnace-8 Mahamaya was blown-in and after 24 hours of blowing-in the first hot metal flowed on February 4, 2018.
Since then, Blast Furnace-8 has been rapidly and steadily increasing its daily production rate. It is worth mentioning that the Blast Furnace-8 ‘Mahamaya’ crossed the cumulative production landmark of 1 million tonne Hot Metal production on October 18, 2018.
