Within six months of friendship with an unknown person, the woman decided to eliminate her husband

A woman killed her husband with the help of her Facebook friend in Yashodhara Nagar on Wednesday. Though the accused tried to project the murder as suicide, the cops exposed their ill-minds and arrested them.  The accused have been identified as Rashmi Paunikar (25), a resident of Kundanlal Gupta Nagar and Prajwal Ranjit Bhaisare (21), a resident of Nari Road, Mhada quarter, Jaripatka. The deceased has been identified as Shekhar Ramesh Paunikar (28).

Shekhar and Rashmi had tied the nuptial knot six years ago against wishes of their families. As Shekhar was getting just Rs 6,000 salary per month, Rashmi was unable to make the two ends meet. She was also fed up with her husband’s alcoholism. She befriended Prajwal Bhaisare on Facebook six months ago. The friendship grew as ‘close relationship’ within a month.

According to police, Rashmi and Prajwal decided to eliminate Shekhar and start their new life. As per the plan, Rashmi called Prajwal at her house in the wee hours of Wednesday when Shekhar was in deep slumber. The duo killed Shekhar by strangulating his throat. Then, in a bid to camouflage the incident, the duo took the body at a ground in Namdeo Nagar where they cut blood vein of Shekhar’s wrist. Moreover, they also smashed his head with a boulder to confirm that he was dead, the police added.  Soon after, Rashmi and Prajwal left for their respective home. The incident came to fore on Wednesday morning when a person noticed the body lying in a pool of blood. He immediately alerted the police.

Staff of Yashodhara Nagar Police Station rushed to the spot and performed panchnama.  As Shekhar was living in the same area, onlookers immediately identified the body. The information was given to Rashmi and she reached the spot. She told police that Shekhar had left the house on Tuesday night after dinner. She tried to project the murder case as suicide and told police that Shekhar was under depression for last two weeks.

However, the investigators suspected her statement.
When woman police officers grilled her, she spilled the beans and confessed to have committed the murder with the help of her facebook friend Prajwal Baisare. Police arrested Baisare from his residence. Both accused persons have been booked under Sections 302, 201 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Under the guidance of DCP Zone V Harssh Poddar, ACP P M Karyakarte, the arrest was made by PI P J Rayannawar, API Pankaj Bondse, PSI Ulhas Rathod and staff including Dipak Dhanorkar, Prakash Kale, Vijay Raut, Vinod Solav, Gajanan Gosavi, Santosh Yadav, Nilsh Ghaywat, Laxmikant Barlinge, Naresh Modak, Ganesh, Roshani Dahikar and others.
