MAHARASHTRA women suffered a humiliating 40-81 defeat at the hands of Punjab in the pre-quarter finals of the ongoing 69th senior national basketball championship at Bhavnagar.
Though Maharashtra lead 4-0 through baskets from Shruti and Shireen, the winners fought back to wrest the lead and from there never looked back.  Tiny Gagandeep not only controlled the game well but excelled in drive-ins. Tall Anmolpreet was unstoppable under the offensive board while Rajandeep chipped in from mid range.

Maharashtra’s poor defence helped Punjab to score freely.
Maharashtra will take on MP on Friday. State men ended their campaign on a winning note scoring over Jammu-Kashmir 73-55.
