Staff Reporter,

RAIPUR,

‘Satyamev Jayate’ said by an exalted 2001-Batch Indian Police Services (IPS) K C Agrawal after his reinstatement into
the service. He was  retired from the service some one year and five months ago.  However, in a rare coincident of fortunes, reinstatement of K C Agrawal came on his birthday, on January 10. Born on January 10, 1960, the officer probably
got the best birthday gift with his joining at the Police  Head Quarters (PHQ) coinciding today.

It may be recalled that the Court struck down the compulsory retirement. Central Government, through an order dated January 9, 2019, had asked IPS K C Agrawal to give joining.
K C Agrawal had challenged the previous state government’s decision in Jabalpur Division Bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). A Division Bench of judicial members Navin Tandon and Ramesh Singh Thakur had quashed the order on February 5, 2018. However, Union Government had challenged the CAT’s order in the High Court.  But, the Court maintained CAT order, yet there was no initiative taken by Union Government for his joining. As a result, K C Agrawal filed a case of contempt of court against the Government.

Hearing the case, the High Court had summoned the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Secretary, following which the MHA had given nod to the  rejoining of the IPS Officer. He also paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel after giving joining.  Lady luck is being generous on KC Agrawal as he is also slated to be promoted to the rank of Inspector General (IG) next month. The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) will assess the merit of another 2001-batch IPS Officer Anand Chhabra along with IPS KC Agrawal, which will clear his path to the rank of IG.
