JMC removes encroachments hindering traffic movement

Continue to crack whip on people who encroach roads and footpaths and hinder traffic movement, the anti-encroachment department of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, on Friday conducted drive in many areas of the city and removed encroachments. The anti-encroachment squad removed kiosks, makeshift shops, handcarts and other such structures and also seized commodities, which were decked in front of shops along main roads.

Senior officials of the departments informed that the anti-encroachment squad is conducting drive constantly and removing encroachments. The anti-encroachment department, on Friday carried out drive in several areas of the city including Circuit House no. 1, 2, roads towards Railway Platform no. 1, surrounding Madhatal and other adjoining areas.

The anti-encroachment squad removed temporary structures. Apart from that the JMC employees also removed tin sheds got erected in front of shops and also seized dozens of kiosks and handcarts. Senior officials said the roads near Circuit House, surrounding Madhatal were mushrooming with temporary structures. People had placed a number of kiosks, and makeshift shops along main roads. The illegal structures were hindering vehicular movement in the busy areas.

They said street vendors who place temporary shops along roads create traffic like situation throughout the day on important roads. Presence of kiosks, handcarts and makeshift shops along roads were posing danger of fatal accident. Hence taking strict action against the encroachers, the department conducted drive and removed illegal temporary structures.

Officials said the anti-encroachment squad had in the past also conducted several drives in abovementioned areas but after few days of the drive the vendors re-occupy areas and hinder traffic movement. They said now the squad would seize kiosks and commodities and would levy heavy fine on erring encroachments.
