Communal tensions sparked as once again a case of desecration of a religious place happened when a Shivling was vandalised by unidentified miscreants at Arang. This is the second incident of sacrilege after the one at Chunabhatti where a Bhagwat Geeta stage was damaged. Shiv Sena activists submitted a memorandum to Arang Police Station, demanding prompt action in the case.

Shiva Sena Vidhan Sabha Head Keshav Vaishnav and Town Head Raj Dubey informed that the Shivling located near the Pond Jhalmala was centre of belief for thousands of Hindus, who perform worship every day. Thousands of Hindus from not just Arang, but also other surrounding areas come to pray at the Shivling, which has now been destroyed. Notably, such incidents are growing after the formation of new government.

Shiv Sena has demanded Arang Police take all measures need to arrest the culprits. The Shiv Sena delegation which mets the Arang SHO was comprised of Keshav Vaishnav, Raj Dubey, Pushkar Sahu, Bhavesh Patel, Prafulla Vishwakarma, Raja Tode, Dinu Verma, Sonu Diwan, Lenu Dhiver, Ajju Vishwakarma, Manoj Pal, Punaram Tandon, and Hindus in large numbers.
