Jasmin Bhasin is back on television with Star Plus’ new offering Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji. For the actor, the character of Happy Mehra is so much like her that she doesn’t even feel she is acting. She is currently seen facing her fears and doing stunts on a non-fiction show. From this week onwards, she will also appear on StarPlus’ fiction show Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji.

Tell us about the concept of the show?

Introducing the bundle of joy this season, Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji is the story of a lively girl, KanganaMehra who is known as Happy by her near and dear ones. This show will highlight that it is essential to enjoy the small packets of happiness in the course of the journey, instead of postponing happiness for milestones.

Tell us about your character on the show

Happy, as the name suggests; is a 21 year old happy-go-lucky girl, hailing from Amritsar, who is at the brink of finishing her college. After her father’s death, she lives with her mother and her younger sister at her Tauji and Tayaji’s house, where they aren’t treated as family. Her only motto in life is to spread happiness and live by it - ‘Kuchhbhi ho jaaye, sab kuchhthik ho jayega, sab kaam ho jayega. Her dream is to get a job which will enable her to buy a small house for her sister and mother, so they can live separately with their heads held high, never having to ask for a hand out again. She is not looking for marriage but she definitely wants someone who will treat her family like his own. Her only weakness if her mother for whom Happy will go till any measure.

How did you prepare for the role?

To be honest I didn’t have to prepare for the role at all. Happy is like a regular girl and I am quite like her. The way she tries to find happiness in the smallest of the things is what makes me think that every girl can relate herself to her. Best part about playing this role is, it comes naturally to me. Whenever I am doing a scene, I would think in my head what would I do if I were in Happy’s place and the scene is complete with Happy’s touch of course.
