Staff Reporter,

Chief Minister Kamal Nath, in his statement, told that mandatory recital of ‘Vande Mataram’ at Mantralaya has been stopped for the time being and decision has been taken to implement it in new form

During previous BJP regime, ‘Vande Mataram’ was recited on first day of every month at the park situated in front of Mantralaya, but on Tuesday, which was the first day of year and month also, Government officials did not turn up to recite ‘Vande Mataram’. This incident raised the eye brows of BJP and it criticized Congress Government in strong words.

Dejected former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed his anger by making series of tweets. In his tweets, ex CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that recital of Vande Mataram was done by all ministers before every Cabinet meeting. Moreover, all employees and officials used to turn up at Vallabh Bhawan premises on every first date of month. “…..It is unfortunate that Congress Government broke this tradition. Today on first date, recital of Vande Mataram was not done..” he said in one of the tweets. “Congress probably forgot that governments used to come and go but nothing is above country and patriotism. I demand that recital of Vande Mataram should be done before every Cabinet meeting and on first day of every month at premises of Vallabh Bhawan,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, he told that “if Congress does not know the words of National Anthem or feels ashamed in recital of National Anthem, then let me know, I will sing Vande Mataram along with people on first date of every month at Vallabh Bhawan premises”. When contacted, BJP’s General Secretary V D Sharma told ‘The Hitavada’ that then CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had started a healthy tradition of recital of ‘Vande Mataram’ at Vallabh Bhawan premises. However, Congress broke this tradition and it is unfortunate.

By stopping this tradition, Congress has shown appeasement politics and people have taken it seriously. “Freedom fighters sacrificed their lives by reciting Vande Mataram,” he quoted. Sources in BJP told that BJP is planning to go to Mantralaya premises to sing Vande Mataram on Wednesday. In the meantime, Chief Minister Kamal Nath, in his statement, told that mandatory recital of ‘Vande Mataram’ at Mantralaya has been stopped for the time being and decision has been taken to implement it in new form. “This decision has not been taken under any agenda and nor there is any protest of our to Vande Mataram recital. Vande Mataram is in depths of our heart and we also from time to time recite it. We will restart it, but in another form,” he added. He told that he believes that one’s patriotism and nationality is not reflected by doing recital of ‘Vande Mataram’ only for one day. Connecting nationality and patriotism with one day recital of ‘Vande Mataram’ is wrong. “Those who do not sing Vande Mataram are they not patriotic,” he asked.

“We believe that nationality and patriotism is through heart and there is no necessity to display it. ……..Congress has fought the freedom struggle and it no longer needs any certificate for patriotism and nationality….every Indian living in country is patriotic. He does not need to seek any certificate nor any need to give the same,” he said.
