Staff Reporter,

After waiving off farmers loan, Congress Government led by Kamal Nath has fulfilled yet another promise of providing weekly off to police personnel. On Tuesday, DGP R K Shukla issued orders to provide weekly off to all police personnel posted in field. This has come as a New Year gift to cops.

The order to provide weekly off has brought big smile on the faces of cops. Now they will be having at least one day to spend with their family and friends. The weekly off will also help them in beating the duty related stress and making them stress-free. Notably, Congress in its ‘Vachan Patra’ had promised to provide weekly off to cops. It was recently that Chief Minister Kamal Nath had visited PHQ and asked DGP to ensure that cops get weekly off.

It was on Tuesday that DGP R K Shukla issued order as per the feelings of CM Kamal Nath. As per the order, if any cop is not able to take the weekly off due to any reason, then he could avail the weekly off on any day of the same month. If he is unable to use the weekly off, then it will expire in that month itself. It was from last many years that discussion was being done that cops should also get one day off from duty in a week so that they can spend time with their family as long duty hours leaves cops stressed.

Even previous Government led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan tried to provide weekly off to cops, but it could not happen. However, Kamal Nath Government took firm decision in this regard. Bhopal IG Jaydeep Prasad said to ‘The Hitavada’ that one day weekly off to cop is a positive decision. The one day off will not only refresh the cops, but it will also increase their work capacity.
