State power sector achieves yet another milestone on New Year

STATE power sector achieved another milestone by creating a new record of meeting peak electricity demand of more than 13,800 MWs on first day of New Year. Highest electricity demand in the State was reported above 13,800 MWs on January 1, 2019, at 9:19 am.

Besides this, the demand was maintained above 13,000 in last 25 days and highest demand of above 13,800 MWs was registered on Tuesday. State power sector registered increased electricity demand of 1,538 MWs as compared to previous year’s demand during the same period. Similarly, the State received surplus electricity supply upto 6,278 lakh units during December.

Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited, Managing Director, Sanjay Kumar Shukla informed that round-the-clock domestic electricity supply and ten-hour electricity supply for agriculture purpose leads to increasing electricity demand in the State.

Sanjay Shukla informed that highest electricity demand was first time reported above 13,000 MWs upto 13,021 MWs on December 2, upto 13,209 MWs on December 3, upto 13,430 MWs on December 4, upto 13,474 MWs on December 8, upto 13,640 MWs on December 24, upto 13,642 MWs on December 25, upto 13,740 MWs on December 26 and upto 13,778 MWs on December 27. Three power distribution companies supplied total 77,165 lakh units of electricity during December 2018 which was only 70,887 lakh units during December 2017. The companies have increased electricity supply by 6,278 lakh units during the month.

It was first time in the State that peak electricity demand in Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company reached upto 5,454 MWs in Indore and Ujjain, while demand of 4,736 MWs was reported in Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company at Bhopal and Gwalior and 3,797 MWs demand was reported in Madhya Pradesh Poorva Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Limited at Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa.
