State Finance Minister Tarun Bhanot and Social Justice Minister Lakhan Ghanghoria, on Thursday took a meeting of senior officials of Government departments and gave necessary directions. The duo ministers stressed on the need of coordinated approach for organised and overall development of the city and district. They said it is their priority to rid the city of backwardness. Obstacles in the way of development will be removed and money will never be a hindrance for development of Jabalpur, they added.


The duo State ministers clearly stated that there should be no negligence in issues related to development. Senior officials will have to execute development works at a brisk pace. The ministers also sought detailed information of schemes being implemented by Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, Jabalpur Development Authority, Housing Board, Public Works Department and other concerned construction departments and schemes lying pending on State-level.


The Finance Minister advised senior officials to adopt innovations for overall development of the city. Likewise, Social Justice Minister said officials will have to adopt positive thinking towards development of the city.
During the meeting, the duo ministers directed senior officials concerned to review city’s sewage system. They also emphasised on concrete efforts to check release of drain water into river Narmada.


The ministers asked senior officials to give equal attention to provisions of basic amenities to denizens apart from ensuring needed development in the city. They also directed for needed efforts to streamline traffic.
The ministers directed senior officials to remove encroachments from roads along with ensuring rehabilitation of poor people who earn their daily livelihood by running shops along main roads. They also directed to ensure benefits of auto-rickshaw drivers while organising traffic arrangement.


Finance Minister Bhanot directed officials to enlist places, which face heavy traffic jam and make proposal for fly-over at the spots. He also asked for underground wiring by removing election poles in two commercial places of the city. He also stressed upon the need of discussion over usefulness of cafetaria in Civic Centre for parking purpose.
The ministers also asked senior officials for strict actions against those involved in sale of illicit liquor, satta and other illegal activities. Later, MLA Sanjay Yadav and MLA Vinay Saxena also expressed their views during the meeting.


Senior officials present during the meeting were Collector Chhavi Bhardwaj, Vice Chancellor Medical University, Dr R S Sharma, Incharge, S P Deepak Shukla, Municipal Commissioner, Chandramauli Shukla, CEO District Panchayat, Rajni Singh, CEO JDA, Nidhi Singh Rajput, Assistant Collector, Dr Rahul Fating, V P Dwivedi and others.
