SARANGARH,

After harvesting the paddy, farmers are burning their fields despite ban by National Green Tribunal (NGT).
With the burning of leftover farming wastes in the fields, air pollution increases. Therefore, the government has given strict warning to farmers against burning of the fields. Though, Agriculture Department has not received any complaints so far, strict action against all such farmers who burn their fields, may be taken. Fine may also be imposed against them.

The farmers who burn their fields are from different Gram Panchayats including Kushal Nagar, Jhariapara, Sahaspur, Vijaypur, Ranisagar, Junadih, Kotri, Reda, Hardi, Godam, Navarpur, Amjhar, Ghautala, Bhedvan, Kharha, Salar, Kanakbeera, Parsada, Chhinad, Kedar, Malda, Kosir, Jashpur, Kachhar, Suloni, Pachpedi, Ulkher, Gudeli, Gutuli, Adola and Dahid. Meanwhile, A L Chauhan, Assistant Public Information Officer (PRO) said that he had not received any complaints of field burning. If anyone had complained, action would have been taken, said Chauhan.
