Governor administers oath as Protem Speaker to Rampukar Singh

Governor Anandiben Patel administered oath of office and secrecy to senior Congress Legislator Rampukar Singh as Protem Speaker at a simple function held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhawan on Thursday. Taking oath in the name of Almighty, Rampukar Singh said, he would carry out the responsibilities, which comes to him as Protem Speaker while keeping true faith and loyalty towards the Constitution of India while keeping up the sovereignty and integrity of the country.


Present on the occasion were outgoing Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Home and Public Works Minister Tamradhawaj Sahu, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and WRD Minister Ravindra Choubey, Urban Administration Minister Shiv Daharia, School Education Minister Premsai Singh Tekam, Commercial Taxes (Excise) and Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma, MLAs Charandas Mahant, Satyanarayan Sharma, Kuldeep Juneja, Lakheswar Baghel and senior officials were present. The oath taking ceremony was conducted by Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Secretary Chandra Shekhar Gangrade.


It is worth mentioning here that Protem Speaker Rampukar Singh is the senior most Legislator in the 90 member Fifth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. He was administered oath of office and secrecy at 10am by the Governor. Senior Congress Leader Rampukar Singh has been elected record eighth time (1977, 1980, 1985, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2018) as Legislator from Pathalgaon in Jashpur district.Although he had lost the election in 2013 but again he won in 2018 with huge margin.


Earlier Governor Anandiben Patel had appointed Rampukar Singh as the Protem Speaker while exercising the powers vested under Article 179 of Indian Constitution, so that he can exercise his duties as Speaker on January 4, 2019, when the First Session of Fifth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will commence. Exercising the powers vested under Article 188 of the Indian Constitution, Protem Speaker Rampukar Singh will be administering oath of office and secrecy to newly elected Members of Fifth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. He will also carry out the process of election of Speaker for the Fifth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
