THE Madhya Pradesh Government has come up with new format of ‘Vande Mataram’ programme on Thursday.
Under the new system, Police band will start playing patriotic tunes from Shaurya Smarak at 10:45 am and will reach Vallabh Bhawan. Common people can also accompany the Police band. Once the band and the public reach Vallabh Bhavan, the national anthem ‘Jana-Gan-Mana’ and the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ will be sung. Under the new format, recital of ‘Vande Mataram’ will be done on first day of every month. CM and ministers will take part in the ‘Vande Mataram’ programme according to their turn. The programme has been made attractive in the new form and the common people will be encouraged to join it.

Through the partnership of common people, ‘Vande Mataram’ programme could become one of the attraction points of Bhopal.  Earlier, the ‘Vande Mataram’ singing programme was organised by the General Administration Department (GAD) of the State Government only with participation of Government officials and employees on first working day of every month. Now participation of Police band and general public has also been ensured.

Notably, it was on January 1 that State Government did not organise ‘Vande Mataram’ programme at a park situated in front of Vallabh Bhawan. Previous BJP Government had been organising this programme for the last 13 years. When BJP came to know that new regime led by Kamal Nath had decided to discontinue ‘Vande Mataram’ programme, it launched a frontal attack on Congress Government. Ex CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan made series of tweets to express his displeasure. When issue garnered political hues, Chief Minister Kamal Nath stepped in and told that Government only discontinued Vande Mataram for time being and shortly, a new format of Vande Mataram programme would be introduced.

He also said, issue should not be politicised and Congress doesn’t need certification of being patriotic as it took part in freedom struggle and made sacrifices.
