Bhilai ranked first in state, second in country in Swachhata Sarvekshan

Bhilai city has been successful in achieving the first position in state and second in the country in the category of cities above 5 lakh population in ‘Swachhata Sarvekshan-2019’ ongoing under Swachha Bharat Abhiyan.

Four states were notified in the survey conducted by the central evaluation team. The first position has been bagged by Indore in list while has been placed in the second position under Open Defecation (ODF) category.

As per reports the evaluation team from the center reached Bhilai on December 27 and inspected all the 70 wards of BMC that has a population of 6,25,750 people. During the survey the team inspected 133 toilets that comprises of 20 community and public toilets along with inspecting the open defection near ponds, railway line, road and drains and sewerage treatment plants.

The evaluation committee declared 13 toilets as model toilets and seven in excellent category thereby placing BMC in the top in the state by allotting ODF plus plus. BMC and BSP managements contributed their might for ensuring such a coveted position.

Mayor and MLA, Bhilai, Devendra Yadav, Commissioner, S K Sundarani, BMC Speaker, Shyam Sunder Rao, BSP- CEO, A K Rath have congratulated the residents of Bhilai and said that no milestone can be achieved without the active contribution from its populace.
