Director Sarman Singh completes 7 months successfully in AIIMS, Bhopal

After completing 7 months tenure Director of AIIMS Bhopal Dr Sarman Singh interacted with the mediapersons organising a press conference in AIIMS premises. He shared the glimpse of his works and developments in AIIMS Bhopal on Friday.

He said that after he joined as Director of AIIMS Bhopal number of IPD, OPD attendance, percentage of bed occupancy and rate of successful operations has increased gradually. Also AIIMS Bhopal has introduced various new wards and departments including Cardiology OPD Ward, Orthopaedic Ward, Trauma & Emergency, Psychiatric Ward, Neurosurgery Ward, Oncology Ward, Burn & Plastic Surgery Ward, Corneal Transplant an Occuloplasty Services etc. Also they have started free of cost shelter homes for the patient’s attendants. Moreover AIIMS Bhopal has also covered several milestones in academics.

He added that under Resource Centre of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (RCTID), AIIMS has organised 11 guest lecturers during July to December 2018. Talking about Zika outbreak, he emphasised that the first Zika outbreak in Central India and the second such outbreak in the country was detected lab of Microbiology Department of AIIMS Bhopal. Also AIIMS Bhopal conducted all the tests of vector borne diseases in the State. He also noted that AIIMS Bhopal has become first medical institution whose 80 percent official work happens in Hindi language.

Moreover, Dr Singh said that the he has a clear vision to make AIIIMS Bhopal developed and superficial as AIIMS Delhi. Talking about his proposed plan, he said that on January 20, 2019 the first convocation would be organised. His priority is to enhance the bed strength, modular Operation Theatre, Skin Bank facility, Micro Vascular Skill Lab, LINAC Machine for Radiotherapy in AIIMS Bhopal.

Answering about outsource employees Dr Singh said that they were hired only for the tenure of one year. Also he noted that AIIMS will appoint 142 new specialist doctors by the end of March. He also said that soon patients will get rid of long queue problem as institution is soon going to start various new and enhanced facilities to serve the best services to their patients. Meanwhile, Santosh Sohgaura, Deputy Director (Administration) and medical superintendent of AIIMS Bhopal Dr Manisha Shrivastava were also present.
