Fire destroys six slums in Cholla area

Due to leakage in gas cylinder, a massive fire broke out in slums of Garib Nagar in Cholla Mandir area on Friday morning. The fire started to spread at a rapid speed. Fire fighters rushed to the spot to contain inferno. The fire was controlled efficiently by the firemen. Had the fire spread further then major tragedy could have happened as gas godown is situated near the incident site. Meanwhile, Fire ravaged six slums.

Police said that owing to gas cylinder leakage, fire broke out in slums of Garib Nagar in Cholla Mandir area. The fire started to engulf one slum after another, creating chaos in the area. Police immediately sought the help of fire brigade.

In the meantime, many persons sustained burns due to the
incident. The names of injured persons are Santosh Sen, Rani Sen, Preet Sen, Sheela, Sarju Ahirwar, Moolchand, Neelam, Meerabai, Mahima Rajput, Vijanta Rajput, Bhumi, Arjun Rajput and Raj Bai Pasi. All the injured were rushed to hospital for treatment.

In the meantime, fire fighters struggled to douse the fire which was taking the monstrous shape. Just 50 meter away, Archana Gas Agency godown was situated and had fire had been not controlled timely then major incident could have taken place. Police told that as many as six slums were damaged in the fire. In the meantime, Govindpura MLA Krishna Gaur visited the incident site and took stock of the damage caused by the fire.
