The National Convenor of Prajna Pravah, J Nandkumar said that the CPM-led government of Kerala is trying to implement Supreme Court (SC) order in connection with Sabrimala temple issue in a wrong manner and this is the reason behind deterioration of law and order situation in Kerala.

Nandkumar was interacting with mediapersons in State capital on Friday. He alleged that it is due to suppressive policies of  CPM-led Kerala government that four pilgrims died and several others were injured. Several religious followers, including women, have been put behind the bars. There is 800-year-old tradition of prohibiting entry of women between the age group of 10 and 50 years in Sabrimala temple. There are some temples where even male entry is controlled. There is distinctness of worshipping methods on the basis of deity and temple.

In Sabrimala, deity Aiyyapa Swami is installed in the form of Brahmacharya form. Since the time of installation of deity, some rituals are being followed there. He accused CPM government of Kerala of helping entry of atheist women into the temple and thus it is trying to implement apex court order in a wrong manner. He claimed that court’s order is in the form of suggestion. In this context, intervention of Kerala government is unnecessary, he said.
