Our Correspondent,

EXTREMISTS once again exhibited their frustration against ongoing anti-Naxal Operations by setting a tractor afire in restive Bijapur district last Thursday night. As per information received, the tractor was engaged in road construction work between Pamed and Dharmaram.

As per reports arrived here, a group of outlaws stormed the road construction site between Pamed and Dharmaram last Thursday evening. They asked the tractor driver to vacate the place at earliest.  Thereafter, they damaged the fuel tank of the tractor and set it ablaze, warning driver not to undertake the work again. They also issued him life threat.

When contacted, Additional Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel admitted of being aware of the incident and suspected involvement of Pamed  Area Committee in torching of tractor. On receiving information, a team of security personnel was rushed to the spot. Search has been intensified to nab the outlaws. It is worth mentioning here that Pamed is located on extreme end of Bijapur district close to Telangana border.

Being sensitive and situated far-off, road connectivity has been a problem there. In this view, the administration has recently started road construction for the convenience of people in reaching village and to provide connectivity with other areas. At the same time, Naxals have been protesting any construction work let it be road or culvert. The incident is reported to have unleashed terror among contractors engaged in construction works.
