Two killed, five injured as  car rams into WCL’s bus

Two teenagers were killed and five others injured seriously when a speeding Tavera car rammed into a bus of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) near Dahegaon Rangri village under jurisdiction of Khaparkheda Police Station on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Mohd Rafiq Mohd Shafiq Ansari (18), Sheikh Noor Mohd Sheikh Rahim (18), both residents of Yashodhara Nagar; while injured persons are Irfan Habibullah Ansari (15), Mohd Rais Said Ansari (20), Rayajuddin Ansari Salahuddin Ansari (16), Shamim Akhtar Shafiq Ahmed (18), Gyasuddin Ansari Salahuddin Ansari (18), Sheikh Asif Sheikh Aziz (24) and Babu alias Sohel Ansari (17), all residents of Yashodhara Nagar.

A police officer informed that the deceased and the injured persons were on return journey to Nagpur in the Tavera car after attending a Quawwali programme at Khapa. The accident occurred near Dahegaon Rangari village.

At 6.30 am, when the Tavera car was passing from an over bridge, a bus belonging to WCL took a turn from service road of the over bridge and came in front of the speeding car. Though driver of the car applied brakes, but it was too late. The driver failed to control the vehicle and crashed the car into the bus.

So strong was the impact that all occupants of the car sustained multiple injuries and the vehicle got badly damaged. The sounded of the crash was like an explosion and was heard at several kilometers.

A large number of villagers rushed to the spot. Rafiq and Noor sustained serious injuries on their head and were bleeding profusely. The duo died on the spot.

The villagers pulled out all injured persons from mangled remains of the Tavera car. The injured were rushed to Mayo Hospital, Nagpur. Condition of three injured persons is critical. Further investigations are under way.
