Business Bureau,

The long pending demand of city-based traders was recently fulfilled as the South East Central Railway (SECR) opened the gate of level crossing near Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) at Kalamna for vehicular traffic. Pratap Motwani, Member of SECR Zonal Railway Users Consultative Council (ZURCC) and Secretary of Wholesale Seeds and Grain Merchants Association expressed satisfaction over the initiative and said that the traders commuting on the road heaved a sigh of relief because of it.

On many occasions, Motwani had urged Shobhna Bandopadhyay, Divisional Railway Manager - SECR and other senior officers in railways to open the level crossing.
Motwani informed that in November 2018, the railway authorities had promised the traders that the level crossing would be opened in January 2019. “And accordingly, the gates were opened on the first days of the New Year. It is a very satisfying moment for all those who commute on this road. Many traders visit the APMC yard every day for whom is New Year gift from railway authorities,” he said.

Apart from this Motwani added that there was an urgent need to open the second barrier of level crossing towards the Pagaria Lawns on Kalanma Road. The passage of the existing gate was very small and on several occasions it lead to traffic jam.

Motwani recently met Bandopandhyay and thanked her for the initiative. At the same time, he urged the DRM to open the parcel office till 7.30pm at Itwari Railway station for the convenience of the traders and other businessmen. The traders also thanked Ashutosh Shrivastava, Senior Divisional Manager (Commercial) and other officers in the department for paying heed towards their demands. Also present on the occasion were Anand Karia and Murarilal Sharma both DURC members.
