Health department issues alert on H5N1, bird flu

State Government’s Health and Family Welfare Department has issued instructions on Avian Influenza (Bird Flu), H5N1 during a meeting. R Prasanna, Commissioner Health informed that due to visit of migratory birds, there are possibilities of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu). Keeping in view of possibilities of Bird Flu during winter directives have been given to keep watch over the situation.

Director of Epidemic Control Dr RR Sahani said they will keep watch over the situation to avoid spread of Bird flu in our state and neighbouring state. He said through poultry Bird Flu may spread through human being therefore necessary precaution should be taken time to time.

He further informed that in any case if bird dies of Bird flu, it should be properly disposed off as per precautionary measures. Beside this Veterinary department should be informed and death of birds in the particular region through the disease should be updated to the health officers.
Dr Sahani further laid emphasis on that to put a check on the disease awareness drive among the children, elder persons and regular check-up of the animal should be done by the concerning department. Also surveillance in the prone areas and regular inspection of all the poultry farms should be done. He suggested that for this work help of Aanganbadi Mitanins and poultry staffs should be taken.
