Staff Reporter,

The air is thick with news that Dr Govind Singh tried to take stock of situation of opposition party’s mindset over Speaker post issue apart from seeking cooperative attitude on other House-related issues

A day ahead of start of Madhya Pradesh Assembly session and amid news that Opposition BJP may try to stonewall Government initiative to fill Speaker’s post without any hindrance, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Govind Singh visited the house of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in State capital on Sunday.

Both of them had discussion for more than half an hour. It is not known actually that what transpired between the two leaders, but Dr Govind Singh’s visit to house of ex CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has left everyone speculating.
The air is also thick with news that Dr Govind Singh tried to take stock of situation of opposition party’s mindset over Speaker post issue apart from seeking cooperative attitude on other House-related issues.

From the side of ruling party, name of N P Prajapati is being forwarded for Speaker post. And if BJP does not give up its stand, then election for Speaker post is almost certain. In that condition, Congress MLAs are may also demand election for Deputy Speaker post.

It is undeclared tradition that Speaker is nominated mutually and this post goes to ruling party. Opposition gets the Deputy Speaker post. But this time, wind seems to be blowing in opposite direction as Opposition seems to be looking other side. This is probably after several years that uncertainty like situation is arising over filling Speaker post and Opposition is doing away from giving its nod in this regard. If the matter is not resolved by Monday, then on Tuesday, election for Speaker’s post is on cards.
