Miscreant nabbed, pistol seized

Ashoka Garden police nabbed a 24-year-old miscreant near Sabzi Mandi area under suspicious circumstances and recovered a country-made pistol on Saturday; accused was wanted in attempt to murder case in Teelajamalpura area.
Police said that, acting on a tip-off that a man was roaming under suspicious circumstances near Sabzi Mandi, police rushed to the spot and caught the man. The police recovered the firearm from his possession when he was searched.

In the initial investigation, the detained person was identified as Raja Khan alias Raja Mewati. In the initial investigation, it was found that the circumstances under which the miscreant was nabbed suggest that he was on his way to commit crime, but was nabbed before that. The miscreant is a resident of Teelajamalpura area and attacked a man in his area. On January 1, the accused opened fire at a man and escaped from the spot. He remained absconding for the past five days and acting on tip-off, he was nabbed from Sabzi Mandi area. Police said that, it is possible that the miscreant had some target, which he was scheduled to hit or it is possible that the miscreant was involved in extortion and was extorting money from someone of the locality.

The police have registered a case under Arms Act and have started further investigation. The accused is a habitual criminal and has been booked for different crimes by different police stations of the State capital. The source of country-made pistol and cartridge would be investigated.
