Tight security arrangements have been made in and around the Assembly for entire Winter Session of House. Though there is no specific business during the five-day Assembly session, but it is likely that Congress Government led by Kamal Nath may bring supplementary budget to meet the financial expenses. Moreover, uncertainty prevails over whether Speaker and Deputy Speaker post would be filled through nomination or election would be held. BJP seems to be bent on election for Speaker’s post. If this happens, then Congress may also demand election for Deputy Speaker’s post.

Assembly Secretariat sources told to ‘The Hitavada’ that election for Speaker’s post will be held on Tuesday. In current Assembly, Congress is having 114 Assembly seats, while BJP is having 109 Assembly seats. As Congress does not enjoy clear majority, hence it is apprehensive that BJP may try to put spanner in filling Speaker’s post. From the side of Congress, name of senior MLA N P Prajapati is almost final for Speaker’s post.

One of the BJP leaders told that lets see what happens as far as filling Speaker’s post is concerned. On Sunday, senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya gave the indication that BJP wants election for Assembly Speaker’s post and thing in this regard would be clear by Monday morning. BJP contemplated throughout the day on the subject regarding filling up Speaker’s post. In the meantime, who will be the Leader of Opposition from BJP will be decided on Monday evening. An important meeting of all BJP MLAs has been announced at party office in Bhopal at 5 pm on Monday. Union Minister Rajnath Singh and State BJP in charge Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will preside over the meeting. It is expected that name of Leader of Opposition might be announced after the meeting.

As ex CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has withdrawn from the race for Leader of Opposition post, hence other names have started to create the ripples. Names of former minister Dr Narottam Mishra, Gopal Bhargava and Rajendra Shukla are creating waves for Leader of Opposition post. Narottam Mishra is having backing of party’s National President Amit Shah, while Gopal Bhargava enjoys support of Sangh. Rajendra Shukla is close to ex CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
