Banking, insurance services to remain paralysed today

Banking and insurance services will be paralysed on Tuesday and Wednesday as banks and insurance employees under the umbrella of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA), Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), General Insurance Employees All India Association (GIEAIA) and All India LIC Employees Federation (AILICEF).

All these unions are joining 10 Central Trade Unions (CTUs) 2-day nation-wide strike from Tuesday to protest against the Government’s policies. In the banking industry, National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW) affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) will remain away from the strike. In Nagpur, bank employees will assemble near Bank of India, Kingsway at 11 am. There will be demonstrations. At 12 noon, a rally will be taken out which will traverse through Jaistambh Chowk, Kasturchand Park and assemble at Samvidhan Chowk. The rally will be culminated into a huge gathering. Leaders of the unions will address the gathering. All the bank employees have been appealed to participate in the demonstrations and rally, informs a press release issued by Jaiwant Gurway, General Secretary of Eastern Maharashtra Bank Employees Association (EMBEA).

In Nagpur, the striking general insurance employees will gather for demonstrations and meeting before regional office of United India Insurance Company Limited at Shankar Nagar at 10.30 on January 8 and January 9. Thereafter, they will join the agitations/meeting organised by Nagpur Trade Union Council at Samvidhan Square, where members of all trade unions/associations/federations will also participate. Prashant Dixit, Joint Secretary and Working Committee Member of GIEAIA has appealed the members to participate in large numbers.
