Bawankule directs NMC to recharge borewells before summer

To control water scarcity in summer, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has instructed civic body to submit proposals to recharge all the borewells in the city. It is necessary to tap the underground water sources available in the city to overcome scarcity in summer.

Guardian Minister was addressing a Jan Samvad Programme at Gandhibag zone office on Monday. Bawankule warned officers that their salary hike would be freezed, if they fail to deliver in time. Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Legislators Girish Vyas, Krishna Khopde, Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Standing Committee Chief Virendra Kukreja, Senior corporator Dayashankar Tiwari, former Mayor Pravin Datke, Zone Chairperson Vandana Yangatwar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Thakre were present on the dais.

Blasting officers of local body, Bawankule reviewed road constructions, water supply,
sewage line and other problems faced by the citizens of Gandhibag zone. Acknowledging the gravity of problems, Bawankule directed civic body officials to organise a second meeting on January 14. He has directed to submit proposal to digitize 500 class rooms of 250 schools. Citizens also lodged complaint about non working of 400 CCTVs, Minister instructed DCP (Traffic) to furnish information immediately.
Citizens lodged complaints about parking problems in New Shukrawari, Fawara square, Gandhibag, Juni Mangalwari and other areas. Dayashankar Tiwari and Pravin Datke suggested to remove encroachments from the roads to pave way for smooth flow of traffic. The residents alleged that local body has failed to shift fish market from Bhoipura area even after State government provided them land at Kalamna market.

Taking cognizance of complaint lodged by Senior Congress corporator Zulfikar Bhutto, the Minister directed administration to prepare a new detailed project report of sewage line and drainage line for Mominpura, Ansar Nagar, Bhankheda, Panchpaoli and other areas. This is a part of old city and it is necessary to replace old lines of British era, Bhutto added.

Former corporator Bandu Raut raised issue of widening of Model Mill to CP and Berar College road. The widening of this road is pending for last several years, he added. Ashfaq Patel has demanded to shift Bakra Mandi from Mominpura. The residents of Gandhibag demanded to provide water during day time instead of night hours. Citizens are harassed due to stray cattle and stray dog menace.

The local residents have demanded to crack whip against hawkers who have encroached a major portion of public roads in Gandhibag, Itwari, Mahal and other areas. The shopkeepers have also encroached upon the 10 ft land in front of their shops, alleged Pravin Datke and Pratap Motwani. Dayashankar Tiwari asked permission to auction the seized material instead of returning it to the hawkers.
