Congress Govt does not have strength: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Eight-time BJP MLA and former Panchayat Minister Gopal Bhargava will be the Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly. This decision was taken in the BJP MLAs’ squad meeting held under the guidance of BJP’s central observer and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Bhopal on Monday evening.

It was former Chief Minister and MLA from Budhni, Shivraj Singh Chouhan who tabled the proposal that Gopal Bhargava should be Leader of Opposition in Assembly. The proposal was seconded by MLA and former Minister Dr Narottam Mishra and Kunwar Singh Tekam.

The meeting was attended by State BJP Incharge Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, BJP State President Rakesh Singh, BJP’s National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, former state chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, State Organisation General Secretary Suhas Bhagat and all BJP MLAs. After the meeting, Rajnath Singh told that through mutual consensus, he is announcing the name of Gopal Bhargava for Leader of Opposition’s post. He said that Gopal Bhargava is eight-time MLA and has a lot of experience. In his address, he cautioned newly-elected MLAs to be alert. He advised them to always think for people’s welfare. He told BJP in the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan had given best government in Madhya Pradesh. At the Centre, BJP gave best government in the form of Modi government. “BJP is party of dedicated workers and there is no decline in our self-confidence.

In State, BJP formed government thrice but failed to come back to power fourth time. But BJP got maximum vote percentage and this is harbinger that people have shown faith over the manner we run government. BJP concerns for all sections of society,” he told. Ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan told that the recently held election was typical in itself. In 2013 elections, BJP got 38.5 percent votes and won 143 seats. In 2018, BJP got 41 percent vote share but its seat tally got reduced to 109 seats. Talking about Congress government, he told that it is not having full majority.

It is hardly known that actually who is running the government. After formation of government, Cabinet could not be formed for long time. Later, there was delay in disbursal of departments to ministers and this work was done when government came under pressure. “This government does not have strength and BJP with 109 MLAs is in the form of strong Opposition,” he asserted. On this occasion, he praised Modi government decision to give 10 per cent reservation to Sawarna people. He also advised MLAs to remain in such a position in their region that they could win their seat for the second time.
