Joint Entrance Exam Main to begin today

The Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main), for the admissions to engineering colleges will begin on Tuesday and will continue till January 12. As announced by Prakash Jawadekar, Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD), the examination would be held twice in January and April.


Earlier, the examination was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This is the first year where the examination is being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Students will have a chance to better their scores as there would be second examination to be conducted in April. Final merit list or ranking will be prepared on the basis of best score of student out of the two JEE Main examinations, informed NTA source.


Till last year, CBSE organised examination in the pen and paper based mode and Computer Based Test (CBT) as well. Henceforth, it will be held in CBT mode only. The NTA will install surveillance systems including CCTVs to avoid any untoward incident. For the first time, jammers will be applied to resist candidates from using any electronic gadget.

 

Important instructions

 

Candidate should carry original photo identify proof such as PAN card, driving licence, voter ID, passport or Aadhaar card along with a print out of admit card and passport size photo.

Candidates should reach centres much prior to the scheduled time.
Result of the first attempt of JEE Main 2019 will be announced by January 31 and second attempt’s result will be released by April 30.

Candidates should carefully go through JEE Main 2019 Admit Card and note the reporting time at centre, gate closing time of centre, date of examination, shift and timings of test and venue of test.

Candidates will not get entry inside the exam centre if he or she reaches after the gate closing time.

Considering pre-examination formalities candidates should take weather and traffic conditions into account while reaching centre.

Identity proofs issued by respective institutes, Aadhar enrollment receipt without Aadhar Number and photocopies or images stored in mobile phones etc will not be accepted.

Candidates (Persons with Disability) are required to carry the necessary certificates.

Candidates are not allowed to carry stationary items like instrument, eatables and water, electronic gadgets, log tables, camera, tape recorder, watch.
